I am still having the same type of problems, except I can log in and I can download music, but I cannot play any of it nor can I sync any music with my zune. Whenever I try and play a song, I get the yellow circle by the song, and then it'll pop up stating "Can't perform this operation because Zune can't verify usage rights" and gives the code C00D0BBE. It seems to only affect my downloaded music, as my personal CDs will still play.
Thank you
i have the same deal. the knuckle heads at zune support (twitter) and microsft support have no idea what to do yet. the only way to make it work, for me anyway, is to set the date on your computer ahead a day, if that dont work then 2 days. it's a leap year thing. if i get a real fix from these goons, i'll let ya know. i actually came on here lookin fo an answer, as well, but don't see one.
UPDATE: Ok, after searching around on the net, I found some people had similar issues with the DRM's a few years back. It wasn't a leap year thing, but I gave it a shot and it worked.
If you followed my previous advice and set your computers date ahead one or two days, make sure you set it back to the actual date before doing this.
1) Go to http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=105882 and download and save the program to your desktop. Launch this program using right click > run as administrator. (This will reset your colection. Your music will still be on your computer, but not in your Zune collection. Once you launch Zune, however, it will start recognizing them again, so don't launch it yet.)
2) Go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkId=105000 and download and save the program to your desktop. Restart your computer and run in "Safe Mode" (hit F8 just after the splash screen). Read the text file. If it says failed anywhere in it, run as administrator. If it looks like it deleted a bunch of crap, then it worked. Restart normally.
3) Now run Zune. It will have an empty library, but will start importing your music automatically. Play one of the songs that didn't work. It should now play. It may take a second to play the first time, as it is now redownloading the DRM's.
Hope this works for you as it did me. Tis was driving me nuts for days. Especially since I had my computer's date set a day in the future.
I tried using #1 and it cleared everything and brought it back, but it still won't play any of the music. And then I also tried the second option and it wouldn't download, because it says I need Vista or XP. Is there a Reset DRM tool for Windows?

After doing number 1, dont launch Zune. Restart immediately. As for not downloading, I have Windows 7 and it downloaded fine. I saved the file, if you'd like me to send it to you. Just follow the steps exactly as I described, in that order. Don't launch Zune until you run both steps.
So I tried running the Reset DRM as admin (finally got it to work by switching the compatibility), and it went all the way through and came up with this
**** Begin CleanDRM *************************************************
**
** LogFile : C:\Users\Corey\AppData\Local\Temp\cleandrmlog.txt
** CleanDRM TimeStamp : 3/6/2012, 5:15:52 PM
** CleanDRM Version : 11.0.7238.0
**
[Open data store for Exclusive]
Failed to open data store exclusively.
**** CleanDRM failed *********************************************
**
**** End CleanDRM ************************************************** *

And my Zune files still wont work right.
Ok, that didn't work. You have to restart ur computer in Safe Mode, by hitting restart, and as soon as ur PC turns on and you see the splash page hit F8 before the windows logo comes up. Select Safe Mode from the menu and when ur desktop opens (it will look all big and funny) run the DRM tool. That shud work. Post ur results when ur done.
I am less confident that it will do anything useful, but it's worth a try.
That won't work by itself. You have to run that, then the DRM tool (in safe mode), then launch Zune, and all shud be right with the world again...lol. Took me a week to figure all this out, with no help from Zune Support.
You have something seriously wrong with the DRM system on your PC. I'd uninstall both zune and windows media player, restart, then reload both. Test it... and if it still fails, then try the DRM reset tool again. Test again... if it still fails, it's time to start thinking about reinstalling windows. Problem with that though, is any DRM'd tracks you bought will lose their licenses most likely. (Zune pass will reauthorize.)

No. It's a leap year thing. As long as he runs the DRM tool in Safe Mode he'll be fine. I had the same issue. All you guys are making it more difficult for him.

I don't think this is a leap year problem considering that this was first posted before leap year.

Its definitely a leap year thing. The way DRM's update are different than how ur account updates. They update according to ur time and date settings on ur PC, where as ur account updates from the Zune servers. As soon as February hit, things went wonky. If he had set his date to March 1st, on the 1st of Feb, they wud have continued to work. The DRM's didn't know how to handle the extra day, even prior to the 29th. All month I had leap year issues...not recognizing the phone, DRM's, etc. Trust me, its definitely leap year related.

It is very clearly not a leap year bug. If it were, there'd be tons of reports. Also the DRM reset tool being run afterwards would have fixed it.

1) See all my posts, especially the one right before yours.
2) There are a bunch of complaints about it on Microsoft Answers. They even had this problem 4 years ago (can't believe they never fixed it). Those older posts are actually where I found out about the DRM tool and Zune Collection reset tool. All of Microsoft Answers, Microsoft Support, and Zune Support say its a leap year thing. Not sure why they wudn't mention the tools tho. But lets face it. Zune support is lacking since they discontinued hardware and are gearing up to discontinue the software.
3) As far as I understand it, the DRM tool only works in Safety Mode on Windows 7. As far as I can tell he hasn't run it in Safety Mode yet.
If your just trolling and not helping, and not sure of what you're talking about, then don't post. Some of us are actually trying to help.
EDIT: Besides the fact, that on Feb 20th, they had me set my date on my PC to March 1st as a work around, and voila, they worked. How do explain that if its not a leap year thing? C'mon peeps. Ur talking to someone who went through it and researched it, and had to figure it out on his own. You can't trump that. Just sayin'.

1) Leap year bugs don't start in late January, where the OP first posted the issue. 2) The original leap year bug affected only the zune 30's and was traced back to uC clock driver firmware supplied by the supplier (Freescale.) That was long ago fixed, and Freescale controllers are not used on any zune's other than the original 30. 3) If you search leap year on answers, you will find references to the original issue plus some later complaints (some of which I answered) that related to wrong dates on the user's PC in some cases and miscellaneous other goofs by users. 4) Switching your date from Feb 20 to March 1 doesn't relate to leap year date goofs. If your PC was set to Feb 20 when the real date was actually March 1, then that could certainly foul up the date sensitive zune pass DRM. But that is an issue with the wrong date on your PC, not leap year.

1) Never posted in January
2) Some leap year issues have been reported as far back as beginning of January. Think Y2K on a smaller level.
3) The issue with the 30 is an entirely different issue.
4) Anything else, take up with Microsoft or Zune Support. I'm done with this conversation. Its like talking to my ex.
It's not letting me run it in Safe Mode, I can run it when I boot normally just by switching the compatibility settings, but when I boot in Safe mode, it still says it can only load on XP or Vista

Hmmpf...I don't know why that is. Try running as an administrator in safe mode. If that don't work, you'll need help getting it to work, because that's the only way to fix the problem. I wonder if I have a different version of the DRM tool. I haven't had a problem, and I don't ever remember putting my pc in comparability mode.
