The Windows logo, one of the most iconic pieces of graphical art ever to be produced, has always revolved around the wavy coloured window we know and love today. It's been around since the mid-90's and has only changed a small amount, but with the radical change to Windows 8 and the Metro system, it seems the logo has been swallowed up too.
The new logo, a perspectively-angled window pane is coloured in a gentle blue, partnered with the Windows 8 lettering. It is a huge shift from what we know and love but I hope this also shows the new direction Microsoft is pushing Windows. It seems to be shifting into a more modern style, a new ideal that is fresh and inviting. I'm not so sure about Metro itself as it changes the image and view we have had on Windows for over 10 years, but it should hopefully give Windows new leverage with the app system it will be implementing. It of course will also flood into phones and tablets everywhere, but that's all just a work in progress. The logo is a starting point, lets see if they can keep it all together.
