Lightbulb [SOLVED] Playback speed control (OpenZDK?)

PLAYBACK SPEED CONTROL

This would be a utility which would give the user control over playback speed of a song or podcast episode, optimally without changing its pitch.

There would be popup playback controls similar to the ones already available, but with added buttons "+" directly below the Fast Forward button and "-" directly below the Rewind button, with a slider between them indicating the selected speed: .5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, etc.--you get the idea.

Honestly, I don't know if this is doable with your existing tools, so please be patient with my ignorance. If you can't do this, I understand. If you need a graphic mockup, I'll try to put one together.

If you mean that we could do this as a stand alone app then it is possible but it would be difficult and take a long time to make, no Dev is gonna take the project up. However, I'm guessing that you want to add this to the zune's OS. Problem - Microsoft made the OS "tamper proof" to protect the DRM.

I was afraid of that. It sure would be a useful tool. You would be able to save time listening to talk show podcasts. So you think this would need to be coded in the SDK to in order to gain DRM access?

It would need to be coded into the firmware, which is impossible.

We don't have the ability, Microsoft's gotta do this as they have the SDK. To work OpenZDK tricks the zune into thinking that the app came from Microsoft and can only go so far.

Oh, I see. Any plans to hack the platform more completely?
