help installing Zune software with windows media center 2004

When I try to install Zune software it tells me i must Upgrade Windows Media Center 2004 to 2005, which I didn't even know I had. For certain reasons I can't update my windows media center. I can't delete it either as it is integrated into my operating system. I tried installing version 2.5 of Zune software but it still asked me to upgrade my WMC. Is there any way to get Zune software to install anyway? Also, I am using xp ultimate, if that helps at all.

You need to have WMC 2005. Is there a specific reason that you cannot update it?

My Operating system was illegaly downloaded and has a glitch where the wmc thinks I have 2005 and won't update, and Zune software thinks I have 2004 and won't run until I update. Also, I don't think wmc is required because I have the latest Zune software installed on another computer that doesn't have wmc.

WMC isn't required... but if you have it you need 2005. I figured you illegally downloaded it... and since that's the case, see if you can find another illegal means of updating it to 2005. If not, you should probably back up your files an get an actual working crack, because your current one sounds messed up.

That is the only real problem with it, so I guess I will give up on Zune software for this computer instead of finding a different crack. I can always use my crappy computer for Zune software..

I am a little disappointed and frustrated with Zune, if a program isn't required, then why would you have to update it? I am also angry at microsoft, why make something you don't need integrated and unremoveable?

There might be some dependencies that are installed with WMC 2005 that aren't in previous versions or something like that. I don't know much about WMC, but I would imagine that it has something to do with internal hardware. Usually computers with WMC have special hardware on them that I don't know can be used in normal XP. I could be mistaken, like I said, I don't know much about WMC. In your case, since it's a crack, I don't know how much of what I said applies to you.
