for the past couple weeks i have been messing around with a lot of stuff and have ended up with a working night vision camera for the cost of a webcam.
its only missing a USB view finder like the ones that you would see on a camcorder as well as some infrared LEDs.
It's not particularly difficult. You just need a cheap camera and then rip out the IR filter. Expensive ones won't capture IR if they don't have it as a feature, but cheap ones will, which is handy when you're on a budget.

that's exactly what i did except i also used a filter made from 3d glasses do remove the visible light.
ladies and gentlemen... night vision.
