Anyone here thinking about joining the Armed Forces?
I think I am. I need to figure out a stable future for myself since I'm practically wasting money in college atm. I keep switching majors and I really don't know what to do.
I'm really looking to enlist in the Navy, but the Air Force seems awesome too.
inb4 IM CANADIAN HERP DERP.
Several branches of the US Armed Forces have called me asking to enlist.
(They know I'm a pilot)
I proceed to ask them if they can guarantee me a jet.
They can't.
I don't enlist.

get a bachelors degree in something and join as an officer and im sure your chances will be much higher
Sadly I have ADD and the medicine I take daily to focus for more than 5 seconds is considered a mind-altering substance. They won't let me join untill I am off of it for one year. That is not a possibility if I plan to have a job or stay in school.
I know several people who joined they air force and several who have joined the navy/army, the ones who joined the air force have stable jobs a lot longer than the navy/army ones, if you go into the air force you can get a job at the air force a lot easier.
Edit: to clarify, when the navy/army ones enlistment ends, you have to find a job, if you go into the air force, you can get a job and keep it, my uncle flys drones and has had a job at the air force for 25+ years

lol yeah right one year. you need to be off at least 2-3 years to get a waiver. Thats what has been taking me so long to join.
TIP: get off medication and switch to coffee. pretty much the same thing
Yea all energy drinks do the same as coffee. I have ways of copeing without my meds. I have to chew a mint flavored gum almost 24/7 or be working on a computer with internet blocked out.
Quick question. Do you need to be good at math to becoming a pilot? Back in high school, I sucked at math.
Nope.
For the degree I'm pursuing I only need one math course.
You do need to be able to do quick mental calculations in your heard though.
IE,
You're on heading 090. (out of 360) You need to time a left hand turn to 180.
That's 270 degrees, 3 degrees per second (if standard rate).
How long will that take you?
