Windows Phone Sync Issue

Hello everyone. I have been having a problem with my windows phone in terms of syncing it and updating it on my computer. Well I mis placed my original usb cord that came to my phone and back then it was working fine. But now that I have lost it I am trying to sync it with a usb cable I got from best buy and it says the device is not connected. Yes I have checked everywhere for solutions and have not came across one. SO my question is. Can I not sync it because of the usb cord and if so how am I able to replace it?

Depends on which cable you got from Best Buy.
Verify that the cable has the 4 contacts on the main usb contact.
Also, if possible, link the cable that you got from BestBuy.com.

Not quite sure which one but it does have the 4 contacts

It probably doesn't have the sync capabilities you're looking for.
Try and find your receipt, take a picture of it and upload it here or..
I need the 7 digit number off to the left of the product on your receipt, then I can tell you if it's the cable or not.
