Hello-- I bought my zune (1402, HD model, 3GB)) via e-bay and it arrived in perfect shape, and worked great for a week until my battery died and I kept forgetting to bring it in and charge it. (I mainly use it in my car or at work). I finally did last night and realized that somewhere between it dying, being connected and left to charge, all my music was deleted off the device. No biggie, right? I'll just re-sync... except, when I open zune, it connects, leads me to a pop up asking me to link my device (Which I have done previously, mind you) and before I can even click anything, it comes up with a new pop up saying "READ ERROR: The Zune software can't access important information on your device. Try disconnecting and reconnecting. If the problem persists, contact customer support". Many times I have disconnected and reconnected, I've restarted the computer and the device, all to no prevail. What do you think? Is it the device or the software and what can I try next??
Also of importance (potentially)-- I have a Nokia Windows Phone (Lumia 900) that I connect to my Zune software. It works for the most part, although I havent synced it lately-- just an update yesterday.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Hi I'm new here. I bought a used zine 80 on amazon 2 years ago and just not am at the 35 GB mark on the player. Every new song that I sync to the player transfers perfectly but the songs will not play and the zine says they are missing or can't be played. It says that for EVERY new. Song and album. Do you reckon I need a new hard drive? I don't hear any bad HD noises and all my songs work in the first 35 GB's. I tried a full reset before I believe. Thanks everyone in advance.

I hadn't hooked my Zune up to the computer in a while and decided to add some new cd's to it. When the software opened, all of my artowrk was gone in the Collection. It's still on device, thank goodness. What happened. I've looked for the artwork cache on my comuter and there isn't one. I think this may be trouble....

Any help at all is appreciated. I sure don't want to have to go in and manually add artwork to over 800 cd's.

Thanks!

DRM Free Music Remaining on Computer

First, I apologise if this has already been discussed, but I am definitely not what one would call "computer savvy" - I did search for a while using 'key words' to this question, but I came up with nothing.

Second, the background:

I have a ridiculous amount of music - all classified as "DRM-free" saved onto an external hard-drive, some of which I have copied onto my computer in order to upload it to my Zune Collection.

Third, the question:

Do I have to keep all of my DRM-free music on my computer in order to constantly access it via my Zune? I have begun putting music onto my computer in order to upload it to my Zune Collection, but I want to take it off because I don't want my computer's memory to be overrun by music files. I recogise the need to keep my Zune Subscription music on my computer until I either purchase or delete it, but do I have to for the DRM-free?

Fourth, I apologise again: this might be the most asinine question, and I hate sounding (being) stupid, but when I ask people, I get "I think" or "I would imagine" but nobody seems capable of being certain.

Fifth, thank you.

I've had a Zune HD (64GB) for a few years now and it's always worked great. A week or so ago I went to sync it and it was taking forever. I was only trying to add 2 songs but it wanted to update content first. I left it plugged in for 8 hours and it only got to 23%....it wasn't frozen, it gradually moved throughout the day. I did a full wipe of the device and firmware and that seemed to fix the problem...for a couple of days at least. Yesterday I wanted to add a couple more songs and the slowness started again. In 8 hours yesterday it was able to get to 38%. I plugged it in this morning and after 4 hours it was at 27%. I don't know what all it's updating...I haven't changed anything on my songs but this is really making it unusable. If it's going to take 40 hours to add 2 new songs to my device then I don't know what I'll do. Anyone have any ideas? I've tried all 3 ports on my laptop (2 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0).

Nevermind. I turned off the option to Sync all music and it synced in under a minute. Turned the option back on and it appears to be working like normal again.

First post, made this account because I screwed up my sweet zune set up that I had going.

Today I had to switch my old 15.99 zune pass to another credit card because my old one was stolen but when I did that I deleted the pass.

apparently I was grandfathered in for that pass so now I can only get the 9.99 zune pass which doesnt include 10 free downloads a month as you all now. I contacted Microsoft but they said there is no way to just give me the old pass back.

Heres the catch, they said that if I can find an old zune prepaid card and use it then I can contact them and have it switched over to a subscription.

Which brings me to my question, does anyone know where I can find the old zune prepaid cards? I would be willing to pay more than market value for them so I can have my old zune pass subscription back.

Thanks for the help guys.

This issue has been posted several times but they have all been closed and I have not seen any real solutions.

I have an 80gb zune and I have it about 1/4 of the way filled with music, and it will not let me sync any more music saying it is overfilled, with all the remaining space filled with "reserved space or other".

Let me be clear.....I have no videos, games, pictures, apps or anything other than music on there. Nothing is set to sync automatically. I only sync music manually. There is absolutely nothing else on there. I have never synced with another computer. The reserve is set to 0%

There is no reason for space to be used up. How do I clear this darn "reserved space" and actually USE the space i paid for when I bought the darn device?

Please do not close this until I say the problem is solved. Thanks
